Gold King Ghost Town | August 30, 2014

Labor day weekend was spent in slightly cooler weather which was nice. On Saturday we headed to Jerome to get lunch and stop in to the Gold King Mine Ghost Town. I've been to Jerome quite a few times but never had the opportunity to make it up the hill to look at all of the time period pieces scattered throughout the property. At only $5 per person this was a wonderful trip through time and an HDR paradise.
An old dentist shack filled with primitive dental care.
Old calculating machine
The man who started and runs it all, Don. Had the chance to chat with him a bit, hear some stories about a few of the rarer cars on the lot, and listen to his 20's race car rev (which he still races around the state).
One of the rarest cars on the lot. They only made 10 of these according to Don.
This motorcycle is pretty cool...apparently you can store gasoline in the tires so that you can get up to 500 miles.
Of course this collection of photos couldn't be complete without a chair!
This car was labeled "Beware of Dog" and at the top you can see "Owner: Killer". I somewhat cautiously approached the car and peered in. I laughed to myself and got quite a kick out of the fact that the 2 residents were mini chihuahuas. No doubt my favorite part of the visit.
This is a pretty rare car, I can't remember the exact number but I believe I was told that they were stopped made with the Star of David logo around the time of WWII.
2 Studebaker's and a Dodge Brother in the middle.
One more chair for good measure. :)
These little trouble makers were about to be fed by a little boy who bought some feed. They ended up finding his feeding technique was too slow and stole the bag from him.
Some letters that appear to be written by school children that visited Gold King on a field trip.
Old one room school house.
After visiting Gold King and Jerome we went down to Sycamore Canyon and this is what it looks like from the top.
